Double Trouble!
March 3rd, 2010 by Nat | Filed under Stuff.Did you know that March 27th is Brother & Sister day? It’s a day to celebrate our siblings – those special people in our lives we too often take for granted.
This got me thinking about the unique bond I have with my twin sister. We share clothes, secrets and sometimes even dreams! I’ve always thought that having a twin is pretty special and weird. So here’s some twin-tastic facts I’ve dug up to convince you too!
- Celeb Twins
What do Ashton Kutcher, Scarlet Johansson and Benji Madden all have in common? They’re all twins! That’s right, Scarlett shares her birthday with twin brother Hunter, who’s also an actor. Ashton and his fraternal twin Michael are so close, Ashton was really upset when Michael fell ill in 1991. He even contemplated becoming a doctor to help heal his bro! And rockers Benji and Joel Madden are lucky enough to have true twin-talent…. the pair are better known as the frontmen for Good Charlotte!
- Twin Things
Identical twins share 100% of their DNA! But they’re also pretty rare – the chance of being a twin is about 1 in 285! The word twin comes from the German word ‘twine’, which means two together and the largest gathering of twins took place in a twin festival in Twinsburg, Ohio – over 2025 sets of twins attended! Wow!
- It’s Twin Time
At Twins restaurant in New York, they will only hire staff if they’re twins! Twin sisters Debbie and Lisa Ganz own the restaurant and they employ 37 sets of twins. Every day at least 10 sets of twins or multiples visit the restaurant for dinner. All twins get two-for-one drinks and then head off to sign the twin book of fame!
- The twin-off: Veronicas vs MKA
When GP had the chance to interview both The Veronicas and The Olsen twins we got them to square off, twin to twin!
We also got to hear some juicy twin tidbits. For instance, Mary-Kate and Ash share a spooky connection where they can read each other’s minds! The Veronicas on the other hand loved to play tricks on their teachers at school. Being so alike earned them the nickname ‘LJ’ because their teachers couldn’t tell them apart!
