Hey GP-ers!
Did you hear the good news? Julia Gillard is now the Prime Minister of Australia! WOWZERS! This is a really big deal because Julia is the first female Prime Minister in Australia’s history. Wahooooooo! See, girls really can do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING we set our minds to. GIRL POWER!
The GP team wish Julia good luck with her tough new job. We also want to ask for a few tiny favours…
Dear Julia,
Now that you’re in charge can you PLEASE:
1. Make Fridays a day off from work and school so that Aussies can have a 3-day weekend. Woot!
2. Give away free chocolate cake in schools and hospitals and train stations and everywhere – this will make people happy!
3. Oh and we’d also like you to organise peace in war-torn countries, help clean up the environment, save endangered animals, stop people bullying and stealing, find a cure for cancer, help people who are sick or poor or homeless… the list goes on and on!

I think it’s beyond mega that there’s a girl prime minister!!
I would do these things:
1) Stop people wrecking the environment because I’m a massive green girl!!! I love the environment and I always think of how horrible it would be to leave my grandkids and there kids out by not letting them see what a beautiful world we once, did have!!
2) Would create world peace between feuding contries and to stop unhappy friendships and make enimies friends ………………………………… thats creeating a better future!!!
3) Would keep girl power running ……… FOREVER!!!

I am really proud for us girls for sticking up for our rights for the last 50 or so years! We have finally won them over (though still not completely!) and we have our first female prime minister. Though we can’t stop now, we still have the election to go in September. Good thing there are more females in Australia.

Hello honestly i think Kevin Rudd should be Prime minister i don’t like her but if she helps the community and gives food and money to the homeless and needy she will be a great PM.
Even though i’m only 14 I still have a few ideas:
1. Change Plant A Tree Day to Plant A Tree Week to inspire more communitys to get involved.
2. Organise many more fundraisers and charity events for the homeless and people with cancer.
3. Get involved with RSPCA! Help all creatures GREAT and small.
4. Give more school students a stronger education so they can achieve their goals and earn scholarships.
Most of all celebrate!!! We finally have a female Prime Minister.

Yeah it’s good there’s a female president around now. But I feel really sorry for Kevin Rudd.
I have ALMOST met her 2 years in a row, and I really hope that I meet her at some stage. I really want to become a politician when I’m older, maybe even Prime Minister if I’m good enough! Congratulations!!!!!
