Bored Games

How are your holidays going girls? Having lots of parties with your pals? When you’re stuck indoors, sometimes a good game will raise the fun factor through the roof!
You could try board games like…
- Cranium - it tests your whole brain (hence the name!) with categories like word games, sculpture, charades and trivia.
- Taboo - in taboo you have to try to describe a word without mentioning the “taboo” words on the card. For example… Miley Cyrus without saying Singer, Hannah Montana, TV, Disney and Nashville.
- Pictionary - use your inner-artist to draw up a storm. It’s a cool and creative guessing game.
If you have a deck of cards, you could try some classics like…
- Memory – play alone or with friends. Match red aces, black kings, red 2s etc. etc. To make it more tricky – remove a card or two from the deck so there are a few cards without a matching pair.
- Pig - Put one less spoon than the amount of players in the centre of a circle. Deal out four cards to each player – you need at least three players. The aim is to get four cards of the same suit – all 4s, all queens, all aces etc. To do this, you put all the remaining cards in a stock pile. The dealer picks up a card from the pile and discards one to their left. Everyone picks up the card from their right, and discards one to their left. When you run out of cards in the pile, use the discarded pile as the stock pile. When you have four of the same suit, stick your tongue out. If you see someone with their tongue out, stick it out too! The last person with their tongue out loses the round and gets a P. If you lose again you get an I and if you lose again you get a G. Once you’ve spelt out pig, you’re eliminated! Oink!
Other fun games are…
- The dictionary game. The leader of the round finds a wacky word from the dictionary and writes down its definition on a piece of paper. Everyone else has to write down a fun definition of the word too and hands it to the leader. She reads out all the definitions including the correct one and then everyone votes on which they think is the right one. If you get it correct you get 1 point. If someone picks your made up definition you get 2 points. If no one picks the correct definition the leader gets 2 points. Each take it in turns being the leader. Once you’ve all been the leader twice, the girl with the highest point score wins! Yippee!
- The chocolate game – Get two dice, a block of chocolate, dress-up clothes and a knife and fork. Sit in a circle and take it in turns rolling the dice. If you roll a double, put on the dress-ups and eat the choc with the knife and fork, one cube at a time, while the others keep rolling. Don’t stop eating until the next double is rolled! Play until the block has run out!
