Boredom Busters

Hope you’re all well and warm, wherever you may be!
Now we don’t know about you, but the chilly weather has us hiding inside, under our doonas these days, and that can be B-O-R-I-N-G! Here are a few boredom-busting activity ideas to keep you busy…
1. MAKE A TASTY TREAT
Bake some biscuits, make some muffins, or if you’re really talented you can cook dinner for your family! Yum! The latest issue of Girl Power has so many amazing recipes – you can make Berry Crumble, Beetroot Dip or yummy Meringues!
2. READ A BOOK OR TWO
Reading is heaps of fun! Find an old favourite, snuggle up on the couch and get to it. Or visit your local library and borrow a new book to devour! Here are some of our recommendations:
The Obernewtyn Chronicles by Isobelle Carmody
This is an amazing fantasy series about an orphan named Elspeth who has special powers – she can talk to animals and read people’s minds! Because of her powers, Elspeth is sent to a scary hospital called Obernewtyn…
Hating Alison Ashley by Robyn Klein
This book is laugh-out-loud funny. It’s the tale of Erica Yurken who dreams of becoming a famous actress and leaving behind her crazy family and horrible school. What will happen when Erica meets the pretty, perfect new girl Alison Ashley?
The Baby-Sitters Club series by Ann M. Martin
These books were big in the ’80s and now they’re being re-released! The books follow a group of besties who start a baby-sitting club.
3. HAVE A MOVIE MARATHON
Invite your besties over, make some microwave popcorn and pop in a DVD. Movie marathons are really fun! We like theming our marathons… like watching movies that are only about Princesses: The Princess and The Frog, The Princess Diaries and Enchanted. There are lots of movie marathon ideas in the latest issue of Girl Power!
