Hanging out with Cody Simpson!

Hey girls!

I first met Cody Simpson last year when he was just starting out in the music biz. Since then, I’ve been a HUGE fan! That’s why I was so thrilled to catch up with Cody again when he came back to Australia recently. I quizzed Cody about his backstage essentials, his awesome new single ‘On My Mind’ and his guest spot on the Disney show So Random! I’m also pleased to report that Cody just loved seeing himself in ‘Colour My World’ in the July issue!!!

You can read our Cody Questionnaire in the latest issue of Girl Power (with Selena on the cover!). The interview was also filmed for a little doco about a day in the life of Cody Simpson! I must admit, seeing myself on camera was an eensy bit embarrassing! You can get a behind-the-scenes look at Cody’s crazy-busy day below!

Today we bring you another amazing read from the Girl Power Book Club!

Nanny Piggins and The Rival Ringmaster by R.A. Spratt

What is this book about? This is book five in the Nanny Piggins series! When the Ringmaster gets into a bit of legal trouble, the circus spirals into chaos without him! There’s runaway elephants, a distressed bearded lady and a very cranky camel! It’s up to Nanny Piggins to save the day :) For those new to the world of Nanny Piggins – she’s the world’s most glamorous pig who has escaped the circus to be a nanny for the Green family!

Who should read this book? If you’ve fallen in love with Nanny Piggins and her wacky adventures, then you’ll just love the latest book in the series. Even if you’ve never read the books before (gasp!), you can still enjoy this book! It’s packed to the brim with laughs! It’s not a super short book though, so it’s best for girls over 7.

Tell me about the author! We love R.A. Spratt – she’s so talented! She lives in Sydney and got her start in the TV industry! When she was a kid, one of her fave books was Hating Alison Ashley (just like the GP team!). She also loved reading detective stories! We interview R.A. We’re excited to introduce you to the latest rad read in the Girl Power Book Club! It is…

Sophie and the Shadow Woods – The Goblin King by Linda Chapman & Lee Weatherly

What is this book about? Deep within the Shadow Woods is the gateway to the Shadow Realm – a strange world where mystical creatures live! On her tenth birthday, Sophie learns she is the guardian of the gateway and must protect our world from the mysterious beings that live there! First up… she must save the world from gruesome Goblins! Eeeek!!!! This book is the first in a super series about Sophie’s adventures!

Who should read this book? Everyone’s going to love this story – but if you’re a girl over seven, then we think this book is a perfect fit for you! It’s just over 100 pages – long enough to tell the story, but not so long that your mind will boggle! There’s also some cool illustrations throughout the book!

Tell me about the author! Of course! This book was written by two authors. Linda Chapman lives in the UK – she wrote the My Secret Unicorn series which is about a girl called Lauren and her unicorn Twilight. Linda also created the Stardust, Skating School, Not Quite a Mermaid and Loving Spirit series. Linda is amazing – she’s written over 100 books! Lee Weatherly also lives in England. She has written books such as Angel and Child X. She loves to dance, cook and go for walks!
