Help Turn Australia Yellow This August!

We love the Cancer Council here at GP, so we wanted to let you know about their super awesome new campaign! You’ve probably heard about Daffodil Day – it’s on Friday the 26th of August (this year is its 25th anniversary!) It helps raise money for cancer research and support for people suffering with the disease. The daffodil has become symbol of hope for people who have had their lives touched by cancer.

So in the lead up to Daffodil Day, the Cancer Council will be sending out 5 bunches of 50 daffodils each day to people who need a little bit of sunshine in their lives. It’s such a great idea because isn’t getting a bunch of flowers just the best?!

We wish we could give ALL our Girl Powerettes a daffodil!

To nominate someone to receive a beautiful bunch of daffodils, just visit the Daffodil Day Facebook page and tell them in 25 words or less why a special person in your life deserves a bunch of daffodils.

Celeb Chef Pete Evans

Celeb chef Pete Evans is an ambassador for the campaign… and he’s already sent a bunch to Manu! Hee hee! So come on girls, get nominating and say thanks a bunch with facebunch! Don’t forget to buy some cute Daffodil products on Daffodil Day too!

Girl Power Book Club

Today we bring you another amazing read from the Girl Power Book Club!

Nanny Piggins and The Rival Ringmaster by R.A. Spratt

What is this book about? This is book five in the Nanny Piggins series! When the Ringmaster gets into a bit of legal trouble, the circus spirals into chaos without him! There’s runaway elephants, a distressed bearded lady and a very cranky camel! It’s up to Nanny Piggins to save the day :) For those new to the world of Nanny Piggins – she’s the world’s most glamorous pig who has escaped the circus to be a nanny for the Green family!

Who should read this book? If you’ve fallen in love with Nanny Piggins and her wacky adventures, then you’ll just love the latest book in the series. Even if you’ve never read the books before (gasp!), you can still enjoy this book! It’s packed to the brim with laughs! It’s not a super short book though, so it’s best for girls over 7.

Tell me about the author! We love R.A. Spratt – she’s so talented! She lives in Sydney and got her start in the TV industry! When she was a kid, one of her fave books was Hating Alison Ashley (just like the GP team!). She also loved reading detective stories! We interview R.A. Spratt in the latest issue of Girl Power (with Selena Gomez on the cover!)

Their new single is called ‘Love Love Love’ and it’s really sweet and totally catchy… you’ll be singing along in no time!

How to Host a Hannah Montana Party!

We’re so sad that Hannah Montana has come to an end. Fun, friendship and amazing music – it’s definitely one of the best shows on the box! The final ep got us all teary – how about you?

Here at GP HQ, we’ve been thinking of ways to keep the Hannah love alive. We thought it would be cool to host a Hannah Montana party with your besties!
