Puffle Party!

March 15th, 2013 by Whitney | No Comments | Filed in websites

Club Penguin is hosting the party of the year and you are invited! Log onto Club Penguin for an exclusive pass to access the brand spankin new Puffle Hotel and the search for the new puffle – which is for members only! This party will be loads of fun and it is not to be skipped, so make sure you don’t miss out on the biggest Club Penguin celebration! The fun starts from March 21 – April 3 so get clicking!

Here are some quick tips on how to look after your puffle:

* Feed your puffle yummy treats but make sure they get enough healthy foods like apples and Puffle O’s! They’l love that!
* Puffles are like your pets, they enjoy spending time with you and they like playing with toys! Just make sure you choose the right one, otherwise this could leave your puffle very upset!
* Puffles adore a little playtime like being tickled and poked. Move your cursor over them from side to side and see their reaction! You might even get the giggles!
* Use your puffle to gain extra points! And the best part is that your puffle actually loves playing games like the Dance Contest or Catchin’ Waves!

Lovely Lyza

April 20th, 2012 by Amy | 8 Comments | Filed in Stuff, websites

Meet Lyza…

She has one of the world’s coolest jobs… she’s a games producer at Space Heroes Universe! Awesome!

We sat down for a chat with the Lovely Lyza to learn more…

What does a Games Producer do?
My job is to brainstorm and create cool game ideas for Space Heroes Universe. I  work very closely with the artists to ensure we produce the best looking games out there! The most important bit of my job is to make sure we  release all of the cool items on time so that our players always have exciting things to play!

Did you study at university?
I studied Design Computing at Sydney University which was a really fun course.

What is the best part of your job?
Everything about my job is really fun and exciting! If I had to choose however, the best part of my job is being one of the first people to play the games that our  team makes!

Tell us about Space Heroes Universe.
It’s a FREE online game for kids where you can create your own hero and explore a universe that’s full of fun and adventure! You can complete quests, play mini-games, purchase items and best of all, make friends and play with other heroes from all over the world! Plus it’s super-safe so mum and dad will be really happy!

What’s your favourite part of the game?
That’s a hard question! Everything in Space Heroes Universe is fun and exciting :-D I do really enjoy playing all of the mini-games in the Virtual World, then using the coins to buy items like clothes, hair styles, pet Kritterz and even stuff for my Homepad!

Who is your favourite character in Space Heroes Universe?
Anna Vexla! She’s sugar and spice and all things nice but what she wants is what she gets!

How long did it take to create Space Heroes Universe?
Around 18 months! It took a lot of role-playing and thinking to come up with the fantastic ideas that you now see in the game!

Do you have any advice for GP readers who want to become game producers one day?
Firstly, you have to love video games! Being a Producer requires having extensive knowledge and skills on a variety of areas – time management, logic and creativity. My best advice is to study hard but also watch plenty of movies, read a lot of books, but most importantly, play heaps of computer & video games to fuel your imagination!

Do you have any secret Space Heroes Universe tips to share?
There are plenty of areas to explore in Little Space Heroes and heaps of secret actions to find with your Bubble Blaster. This is my favourite one – Fly your Starjet in space and try to find that special spot near the asteroids for that secret surprise!

You can meet Lyza in Space Heroes Universe! Her hero’s name is Ehylyna. Click here to play Space Heroes Universe right now…

Happy Safer Internet Day!

February 8th, 2011 by Anthea | 8 Comments | Filed in websites

Hi girls!

Happy Safer Internet Day! Today is all about making sure you’re super safe online! In honour of this awesome day, we called up our pal Aunt Arctic from Club Penguin! As advice columnist and editor of the Club Penguin Times, the weekly newspaper in the popular virtual world of Club Penguin (clubpenguin.com), Aunt Arctic is accustomed to giving words of wisdom.

Club Penguin is celebrating Safer Internet Day!

So when it came to putting together information on online safety for kids and families, we asked her to provide some tips.

Aunt Arctic says…

Parents:

  • Keep the computer in an area where it’s easy to supervise internet use.
  • Teach your kids how to stay safe online.
  • Research and visit appropriate children’s websites.
  • Ask lots of questions about what your child is doing online.
  • Use parental controls and software.

Kids:

  • Never give out personal information, such as your name, age, location, phone number or school.
  • Don’t share your password with anyone except a trusted grown-up.
  • Choose a username that’s different from your real name.
  • Tell a trusted adult if someone asks you for personal information online, or does anything that makes you uncomfortable.

For more information on safety at Club Penguin, visit: support.clubpenguin.com/help/help/safety.htm

In fact, why don’t you print out these online safety tips and post them near your home computer for the whole family to see!

Happy browsing girls!

Let’s Go Surfing

February 22nd, 2010 by Bec | 32 Comments | Filed in websites

Hey there,

We hope you had a fantabulous weekend!

We got lots of emails over the weekend from Girl Power readers recommending their fave websites, so we decided to share some of them with you! Check them out next time you’re surfing the web, and don’t forget to post a comment below telling us what you think…

Wonderful Website #1

www.playbubblestruggle.com

“This is a fantastic arcade style game where you have to burst all the bubbles without them hitting you or before the time runs out! It’s sooo addictive: once you start playing, you’ll play it again and again and again.” Emma

Wonderful Website #2

www.gogirlhq.com

“Some of you might love the Go Girl! books like me, or just want to check the web page out! Well if you want to check this site out (I recommend you do) go onto: www.gogirlhq.com, it is one of my fave sites.” Emily

Wonderful Website #3

www.poptropica.com

“I know a really cool website called Poptropica it’s really awesome. You get to make a little character with a wacky name then go walk around all the islands and complete the task on each island to earn money to buy cool costumes for your character to wear. It is really fun and challenging.” Georgia

What about you, do you have a fave website?

Christmas Present Ideas

December 4th, 2009 by Girl Power Magazine | 5 Comments | Filed in Stuff, Wisdom, websites

Has everyone picked out what they’re getting their loved ones for Christmas yet? I’ve got an idea for Mum (perfume), and my sister (jewellery) but my Dad? Well… he’s always a tough one!

Every year I get my dad the same thing – a puzzle! He LOVES puzzles, but I want to get him something different this year. He’s a very hard man to get presents for. Have you guys got any suggestions?

This year I’m doing something really generous! I’m buying all my friends a gift donation from Oxfam Unwrapped and the World Vision Smiles Catalogue. Every gift I buy will go towards helping those in need and it can be as little as $5 for new colouring pencils! The donation will be sent on behalf of my friends and I’m sure they’ll love getting a card explaining how their gift is helping others.

So remember to give generously this Christmas!

Mel xx
